specialists when it comes to pulling out teeth and replacing with dentures or does tooth extraction (getting all of them done) and denture fittment have its own special practicioners! I am in Palmy and an sick of being strung along by my dentist. Can someone suggest a dentist/special practioner or whatever who does this sorta thing in Palmy! Cheers.

Usually its all done by general dentists. Cant help with a recommendation up there tho sorry

Beauty_carolyn57, May 8, 2012, 8:34 am

Well I will be keen to watch this thread as have the same problem.

Beauty_grouch, May 8, 2012, 8:37 am

I would think that your general dentist would handle that. Specialists are for cosmetic dentistry, root canal specialists and paediatric dentistry and all those other super tricky things that can go wrong. How is your dentist stringing you along! Maybe you need to tell him/her that you want all your teeth extracted!

Fixing, re fixing . a few years later fixing the same thing yada yada. One by one over the years certain teeth have had heaps of dollero spent on them and then in the end . pulled out due to not being fixable any longer - whatever. When I have mooted the point that maybe I should just have the whole row pulled out - there's all these reasons put forward why that would not be a good idea. I ain't getting any younger or richer and am sick of the seemlngly constant cost these things in my mouth are costing. Might just swap dentists and go for it. Wanted to know if someone knew a dentist that they used in Palmy that they had had good experiences with getting all their teeth pulled out - and who didn't shaft them at the same time.

Dentists will always try to save teeth if they can, nothing is as good as your own teeth.Dentures really are a last resort - and not all dentists are money-hungry rip-off artists, some really do have the patients best interests at heart. The thing is that a lot of ppl think dentures will be the end of problems for ever - but sadly not always the case! Most ppl can handle a top denture well, but bottom ones can cause a lot of trouble!Usually there is not a good bone ridge for them to sit on.
Got to find a dentist you like and trust, hopefully someone from your area can help :) good luck :)

I went to the one on MainStreet. The lady there did a wonderful job in saving my front teeth . Herr name was Deepeka(!SP).Just along from the courts ,opposite Murphy,s pub. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost

Omg it's so hard to find a dentist who will remove your teeth and do false,I have the same problem in at the movement, sick of throwing money at teeth that are full of lead any way, surely as a paying customer u are entitled to get what u ask for

They are trained to save and preserve teeth, nothing is as good as your own teeth.

This thread is still alive! Ok - update. I see I started this around 3 months ago. I have procrastinated during this time doing nothing. I started getting used to constant low level throbbing pain from certain teeth and watched some of the others lose their fillings. A week ago I woke up and said 'fark it' and made an appoinment at my dentist. I went in there and asked him to have a look and provide options. He did and I picked one. I am going to have all of my top ones pulled out and am going to keep the bottom row in. Its being done (the extraction) starting from tomorrow and will be done in two sittings around 2 - 3 weeks apart . back ones during the first sitting with the rest following later on. You also get a choice of having a denture for immediate fittment (that will need religning at a later date) or you can go commando for 3 months. I am a guy, I don't have a job where I represent a company image to the public and I don't care what others think of my looks, haha! I elected to take the cheaper and potentially healthier option of running around with bare gums for 3 odd months while my new gum shape settles and defines itself. I can't wait!

Good on you, sounds like a good choice - bottom dentures are usually the ones that cause all the grief.Hope it all goes well.

1.5 hrs to go . yehaa - bring it! I have just had my last decent feed for breakfast that i will have for awhile.

Beauty_trader_84, Jul 20, 2012, 7:39 am

Back! Went well. . no pain and no drama. I am all sutured and gauzed up rrrready for a weekend taking it easy. I guess the jabs will wear off soon but it can't be that bad. Get the sutures out in 1 weeks time and will book the next appointment to get the rest of them out, then.

Enjoy your soup, yoghurts etc!

Beauty_carolyn57, Jul 20, 2012, 1:16 pm

Update. Returned to the dentist to get the sutures out and booked in to get remaining top teeth out. No problems whatsoever. That was a few weeks ago. Have since returned to the dentist to have the remaining teeth pulled out from the top. This time I think I have an infection or something. One feels sore and swollen. I go back to the dentist tomorrow to have this lot of sutures remove and for him to check. He will tell me what the go is with the swelling. Eating has taken on a whole different outlook for me, lol! Its amazing though . I can swill ice cold water around my mouth and feel absolutely nothing except a cool soothing feeling! No regrets about anything at this time.

Beauty_trader_84, Aug 12, 2012, 9:53 pm

hope your feeling better today, and that there is no infection.I was wondering if you could give me a ball park idea of how much this might cost!
Did the dentist knock you out!

Beauty_dunshoppin, Aug 13, 2012, 9:08 pm

I didn't know he was in the ring with a dentist!

Beauty_zuggle, Aug 13, 2012, 9:15 pm

Hubby had top and bottom out at the same time and had dentures in also same time. Dentist told us putting the dentures in at the same time, saves any infection that could happen when the whole mouth is done at the same time. This was done 12mths ago, been back 4 times for religning, he is just starting to eat right, what I mean by that is steak, pies etc, still cant bite an apple. he was given the happy pill and then injections. $4,500 was his.
