Just to let you guys know that I have my op date. 1st of March. Possibly earlier if there is a cancellation.

Beauty_paulap, Jan 23, 2011, 7:09 pm

That is excellent news that you have a date - I will cross my fingers that a cancellation comes up and you get it soon.Although, five weeks will fly by - it did for me.

Beauty_jane091, Jan 23, 2011, 8:38 pm

Yay! I'm sorry it's taken so long to happen, but great that now you can start to cross off the days. It's easier to hang on when you know there IS an end in sight.

Beauty_luluweezie, Jan 23, 2011, 11:00 pm

the day is nearly here. How are you feeling!

Beauty_lisha2, Feb 17, 2011, 1:04 pm

I went to my doctors today and I have been referred to hospital for a hysterectomy. When the doctor asked if I wanted him to send a referral i said 'yes please!'.I knew that I was happy with going ahead with it and its what i want.

I want to thank all you ladies who have given me advise and told me their stories.Having thought about it since I started this thread and read everyone's journey I am now fully prepared mentally to have the operation.Just have to wait for my date now.

Beauty_lisha2, Feb 17, 2011, 1:07 pm

Hey there. I hope they get a quick op date for you.

I have 10 days to go and I am terrified. Trying to get organised. Because of my issues with bowel and bladder and prolapse I have been told to have 12 weeks off work.No lifting or standing for 8 weeks is going to be hard but worth it if all goes well.Have been very busy at work for the last 2 weeks and have been in agony this week. Glad it is the weekend.

Beauty_paulap, Feb 17, 2011, 5:55 pm

Excellent - I had a larger fibroid removed, and now I'm back getting a hysterectomy - you've mad the right decision - I had one originally (but it was enough fibroid for a village,) now a have a village of small ones setting up shop.really, they are a complete pain, so i'm kinda stoked to hear that someone is not going to have to deal with them coming back.

Paula, I'm sure you'll be fine, and your kids will be awesome after your surgery, and you'll feel so much better once you have recovered.

Beauty_deered, Feb 18, 2011, 11:42 am

i cant wait now.well, i can wait for the surgery - not won't be too pleasant, but for the post-surgery and getting on with things.I have the Mirena in, to stop the bleeding which has worked wonderfully. But the only other option now is the surgery, which I don't mind as I've already had all my kids, and don't want any more and this thing is getting bigger and bigger.

My fibroid is like a little baby its 20cm across and 10cm high, not sure how wide it is.its just a bloody pain, i look 9mths pregnant. The doctor said thats its football sized. It would be hideous to have a bigger one, I couldn't imagine what that would be like.I have heard that when the bigger ones get removed they do grow back.So pleased that you will nolonger have to deal with it anymore either.

Beauty_lisha2, Feb 19, 2011, 2:35 pm

Oh yay. My prolapse has got worse over the last week. That explains my extra pain and bladder trouble getting worse. 10 days to go :)

Beauty_paulap, Feb 19, 2011, 8:24 pm

Mine was 18 x 13 x 15, so a similar size to yours.unfortunately for my kidneys I had really good abs then, and it was being held in pretty well, so although I had a bit of a belly, it wasn't that bad - except if I tried to do a sit up, or lay on my front, I couldn't breathe, as it got pushed up against my diaphragm. It also pinched my ureters against my pelvis, causing my kidneys to have issues draining.I had possible kidney stones noted back then, but they weren't an issue until late last year.Mine was almost round, and the doc said it was like a small basket ball.I sw some of the photos, and the blood vessels were massive.Don't panic about the request form or lots of blood, they have your matched blood on standby, but often don't need it.

Beauty_deered, Feb 19, 2011, 9:25 pm

Bugger, but yay, it's getting closer :)

Beauty_deered, Feb 19, 2011, 9:25 pm

Mirena didn't work for me. Before doing a hystorectomy they decided to try novasure which is taking part of the lining of the uterus. That was in Sept last year. recovery was faster and haven't had a period since. was meant to still get light ones. will be interesting what they say at my check up.

Beauty_tanya11, Feb 19, 2011, 10:55 pm

Those fibroids sound nasty ladies.

Beauty_paulap, Feb 20, 2011, 7:06 am

Glad I wasn't one of the people with a fibroid - ouchies is all I can say about those

Beauty_jane091, Feb 20, 2011, 8:45 am

oh no :(not long to go now.then it will a bad memory from the past :)

Beauty_lisha2, Feb 20, 2011, 4:08 pm

i just hate looking pregnant when i'm not.but then its my fault as i have a loose tummy from whenhaving my last 2 kiddies and my tummy muscles are not toned at all.

what you are going through is far worse imo.Im not in pain likeyou are everyday and experiencing all the things you are. When I read some of your stories and some of the other ladies i felt lucky i just had a lump in there.

Beauty_lisha2, Feb 20, 2011, 4:46 pm

I am supposed to be going out in 45 minutes. Here on the couch just wanting to vomit because my lovely friend Ms Prolapse is making my insides play up. Time to put my big girl pants on and get on with things.lol

Beauty_paulap, Feb 20, 2011, 4:57 pm

Hospital appointment today. The pre-admit one. Then just one more day of work and will try to get this place and things sorted for next week. 7 days to go.

Beauty_paulap, Feb 23, 2011, 7:57 am

After making what I thought was a sound decision not to have a Hysterectomy in my 40's (I was given some blue tablets that helped control my menstrual cycle) at 64 whilst undergoing other surgery my Uterus and Ovaries were removed. I did not know this was going to happen. the Registrar popped in the next morning and said. *Oh by the way, we had to remove your Uterus and Ovaries, they were no use to you anyway"
I actually felt sad, as if I had suffered a big loss. 13 weeks on I must admit I haven't missed them but I am now 65.
Today my daughter, an RN, said I looked pregnant but I do have other things going on.
I wish those needing surgery etc a speedy recovery.

Beauty_grandmasue1, Feb 25, 2011, 7:08 pm

3 days to go. Pretty much crapping myself now. More so in making sure everything is OK at home with the kids etc. Doctor last week thinks they will not fix my prolapse on Thursday. Just a radical hysterectomy. I am not too happy about that. Hopefully the actual surgeon has better ideas.
